Goals of the MiniMOOC "The Lady with the Lamp" :
This MiniMOOC inspires to searching for knowledge and use it for the good of humanity. It also allows the students to develop several skills :
soft skills : collaboration, presenting results, creativity, communication in english, critical thinking, time management etc.
hard skills : computer skills (Excel , gapminder), data collecting, data presentation and interpretation, converting tables to diagrams, etc.
Objectives:
The purpose of the lesson is to understand the origin of statistics and the use of it in chronological order (both the original use and how it’s used today, as a manipulation instrument.)
The pupils will learn about the collecting of data and presentation of data in a chart or a diagram, even an animated diagram, that makes them more appealing for the extended public and make it have an impact that can generate a reaction, leading to bigger changes,progress...
Students develop skills such as: ability to work in groups, the analytic ability, critical thinking towards misleading statistical material and its use nowadays in contrast to the good purpose of statistics use, improvement of digital skills and use of digital resources.
Each miniMOOC is developed on the same methodology, including the parts Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, Evaluate. You can browse all miniMOOCs with guest account, however if you want to mark the checked resources (which you explored, which still need to be explored), to post something in Forum, to provide us Feedback or to do Moodle tests - you need to self-create an account by selecting login and creating an account with your Gmail (or other) acount.
Please self-create an account if you want to post something - we would appreciate any comments of suggestions or questions (just note that project ended in August 2022 and it may take time for us to respond).
