Giulia Cordone is math and physics teacher and she likes to create lessons that involve aspects of real life. Valeria Greco is a physicist and she likes to create activity involving different scientific disciplines.
Goals of the MiniMOOC: Measure for Measure
This MiniMOOC is a real-life activity and the focus of this activity is the knowledge of relation between us and buildings around us, and how we can understand their size using our body at first guess.

The goal in this part is to introduce the MiniMOOC to the participants with a general introduction to the course and a launching activity.
Scenario: We want to measure building sites and we don’t have a meter. How do we do it?The role of teacher is that of a “facilitator” (help with some tips without to give instructions to follow, like “can we use ourselves? Can we use something that has a relationship with length? What do you think about this?”)This part can be shared with art teacher, for example, if you choose a historical monument. In this way she/he can describe the monument from architectural and historical view.Adaptability for other contexts - choose a building that is situate in you city and has some historical value or is important due to some cultural events/historical perspective. Goal: to find the right unit of measure to use to measure building sites and its height.
What teacher should expect to happen: After chosen the unit of measurement, one of students set a walking rhythm and begin to walk along the sides of the building counting (after the student set rhythm, everyone continues on its own). At the end every student will have record steps numbers of each side.

Goal: to measure students’ comprehension of the activity, their competence in excel sheet use and to check their knowledge of statistical quantities.
